THE RICE STUDIO

THE WORK

Tom Rice seeks to find connection, to unify, to make sense of an ever changing world through story and stream of consciousness. Taking things which are disconnected and complex, and bringing them together in a very personal and holistic way. This is the jumping off point. The expression, the physical nature of the painting, and the story it tells is a personal interpretation of the viewer. One will find their own truth and visual perspective, but color and beauty are always the foundation of each piece. Emotion is evident in the work, but also the desire for something greater than the sum of its parts. The fact that we are all one in this world, so too, is that we find a deep connection through the works of art. Each piece has an energy and a path of discovery which transcends the basic decoration of painting.

AQUISITION

All art works are only available through the Rice Studio. Works created on stretched canvases are primarily too large to ship. Some are on multiple canvases which can not be separated. Paintings which are stretched and back stapled may find possibility in being un-stretched and rolled for shipping. Once received, a professional framer may re-stretch the work for presentation.

ALL transactions are preformed in person over the phone. Credit card information is never stored. Credit card transactions are through Square. We value our credit privacy and we value yours.

The studio is open by appointment on a limited basis. Inquiries can be made through the “keep in touch” form or by direct email.

We highly recommend viewing the work in person. We always do our best to faithfully represent the true colors and images of the work, but with the nature of technology, this can led to issues of accuracy.

THE ARTIST

Tom Rice has been painting since age 19 and today works in the village of Glen Ellen.

“My first paintings were created at age 9. Then not much until age 19. Always being connected to art it has been this friend, an enemy, and a confidant. Along the way I have done many things pizza maker, baker, printing press operator, printing pre-press manager, silkscreen printer, graphic designer, restaurant server, wine educator. Some creative focused, some not, but all endeavors which have collectively found there way into my work. This history has become my arts history. All of the connections that have led me down this path now find their way to the end of a brush.”
